History of TSC
Mike’s interest in radio began back in the early 1990s when he had a brief internship at WCDQ, a local rock station in Sanford Maine. Mike would take CDs off the shelf and set them aside for the program director, occasionally run the board, but never got on the microphone. Later, he applied to a School of Broadcasting and was not accepted because he was legally blind and couldn’t read the.news feed. Mike then focused on music, being a keyboard player and backup vocalist. Radio was the last thing on his mind for many years.
Years later, the Lord began to speak to him about The Spirit Calls. After 2 years, Mike spoke with Charlene Staples (formerly Chute), one of his best friends, and they began work on the first program, and the ministry was born.
On Saturday, February 20th 2010, Michael Biasin and Charlene Staples launched “The Spirit Calls” radio ministry. The program ran for nine years before being put on pause. In late 2022, the Lord ignited a spark in Mike, Charlene, and Mike’s girlfriend Laurie to re-launch the program. It now airs on Sundays at 10pm on Word Radio Life. It had its debut on January 1st 2023.
The purpose of this program is pointing the lost to Christ, bringing hope and encouragement to the Body of Christ, and having a place where your normal everyday Christian can boldly share their testimonies of what God is doing in their lives. We also interview people who are making a difference for Christ in our region.
As Mike and Laurie’s church opens the door and invites Jesus in to every service (Revelation 3:20) it is our hope that you will invite Jesus into your homes and vehicles by way of His Word and Presence coming through The Spirit Calls.
